A Little More about Perrysburg Rugby
PRC was started in 2005 at the urging of a then-high school senior who wanted to play a spring sport and do something "different." Starting our 10th season this spring, we have had more than 350 Perrysburg area students participate. PRC is an independent club that carries liability on the team, coaches, players and facilities through USA Rugby. It is governed by Rugby Ohio which follows the OHSAA guidelines for eligibility and each team has certified coaches and use certified referees and athletic trainers. Ohio Rugby has more than 2,000 registered players with more than 50 high school boys’ teams and 15 girls’ teams, with six teams now making up the Northwest Ohio region.
PRC has a "no cut" policy and everyone plays and many of the athletes are experiencing "team play" for the first time. PRC has had great success on the pitch winning a state championship in (year). The club has also given opportunities to students after high school, as approximately 50 players have gone on to play rugby after high school, several playing for collegiate national championships.
Perrysburg Rugby Club will continue to give area high school student-athletes a unique opportunity to create fond memories of high school while occupying some of their idle time. We try to instill in them responsibility, accountability, sportsmanship and camaraderie, while also learning a few life lessons along the way.
